Six Great Email Marketing Trends to Watch Out for in 2018

Posted on Posted in Blog Main

Email marketing has evolved considerably over the years. Probably one of the very first ways of reaching out to prospective clients, email marketing goes a really long way in getting recognized. Be it for selling products or services, saying hi to your followers or simply letting them know that you still exist, email marketing does the job spot-on!

However, it also goes without a say that everything from the techniques, content, design, ways of marketing and strategies too, have massively changed when it comes to doing email marketing today. The only thing that lies unchanged is its power. While email marketing is probably the easiest to do and get right, making sure you are compliant with its current mannerisms and trends is very important to make its utilization in the best possible manner.

Here are the six great email marketing trends to watch out for in 2018:

1. Location-based email-content:

Creating specific emails as per the clients’ location makes a big difference. This is especially great for those with a large email list who target people in different countries. Location-based emails work great in case of time differences and also have another aspect to them – they take into consideration the difference in scenarios at different locations. For example, if a product you are selling is available at Target in the US, it may be available at another store chain in Canada.

2. Optimizing emails for mobile devices:

With a large percentage of people opting to read emails on their mobile, there are high chances of your email being viewed on a mobile device by a maximum of your recipients. At this stage, if the email does not look great on a phone, or isn’t mobile-friendly it could straight away land up in the trash folder. To avoid this, make sure it looks as good on a phone as it does on a laptop.

3. Using video content:

Although a lot of marketers may look at this one as the last stage of marketing, including a bit of video content can avoid receivers from looking at your mail as “just another marketing email.” Alongside, a short video with the email also means less content and great reach. Here, the video would be the spotlight so unless you’re very confident about it clicking with your audience, think twice!

4. Making it more visual:

Gone are the days of boring, long emails. Today, the better they look and the more creative it gets, the better it works out for the company. Including a tip or fun-fact, quote, high-quality pictures or an infographic will definitely pique an interest of the receiver.

5. Keeping emails short, crisp and easy-to-understand:

Long emails are not only time-consuming but at times may also seem too sale-y. A company must be confident in what they’re selling, that means simply listing down its details for a potential client and not hard-core marketing – something that really puts most people off.

6. Going beyond just names for content personalization:

Personalizing goes a long way in making a receiver happy – that a company knows who he is and recognizes him. This is usually done by all companies by including clients’ names in the email – however, what will really make a difference is getting a step beyond that. Get creative here and do your bit to stand out amongst the thousands of personalized emails sent every day!
