Instagram introduced Reels earlier this month as a new way to create and discover short, entertaining videos. The social media platform has over 1 billion monthly active users.
Instagram has created a dedicated space for Reels in Explore, and marketers are capitalizing on this move to reach a wider audience.
The social media platform turns 10 in October this year and has been enjoying great popularity ever since, and without a shred of doubt, it’s here to say. Instagram success looks like it has come straight out of a silicon-valley fairytale.
Instagram, known as burbn in 2010, garnered quite some buzz. But, unlike the evolved version we see of it today, it used to be a location-based app. What stays the same is that the app has been very successful in evoking internal triggers, making people use Instagram on their own.
Six in every 10 Instagram users log in at least once daily, and what’s better than reaching out to your users where they spend a big chunk of their time!
The new feature was launched in 50 countries, including the US, and is now almost ubiquitous on Instagram as these short videos can be shared as stories, as well as in your feed. Your users can see these videos in a separate Reels tab on your profile, in addition to the explore section.

Reels can be a game-changer for brands looking to drive brand awareness and engage with their audience. If you’re adding relevant hashtags on Reels, it will also be displayed on the pages specifically created for those hashtags. This is helping marketers target a much broader market on Instagram without putting in too much effort.
The feature is easy to use; you can create these 15-second videos with a myriad of creative tools. Instagram labels some reels as featured. These are public reels chosen by Instagram to help users discover content they find valuable.
Instagram has helped users capture memories as they come and grow. They’ve made it extremely easy to click a picture, add beautiful filters, and share it in a matter of seconds.
